The Resurrection of Jesus

November 29, 2015 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: Luke

Topic: AM Service Passage: Luke 24:1–12

It was the event that changed the universe forever. Not just at one point in time, but for all the past, and for all the future. The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ proved that He had conquered death (1 Cor. 15:57), that He had paid the price of sin (Hebrews 9:28), and that death could not hold Him (Acts 2:24). Although Jesus had spoken of His rising again after His death, those who followed Him did not understand. At the cross, they were devastated, believing that all was lost. Imagine their surprise and hope upon seeing that they were wrong! Imagine their rejoicing upon remembering Jesus’ words: “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” (Luke 9:22) That same hope and joy can be had today, as we look on the risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Himself, who ever lives and reigns! Come and look at the empty tomb and see that Jesus has conquered – not for Himself, but for all who believe in Him. Everlasting life can be found, because of “The Resurrection of Jesus” (Luke 24:1-12).

Questions for consideration: (1) What were (or are) the greatest challenges to you believing in the resurrection? Why do you think that is so? (2) What has the Lord done in your life that has left you “marveling”? How did that affect how you live? (3) How does the promise of the resurrection affect how you relate to other people? Deal with adversity? Live day by day?
