It should be no surprise that at the center of what Christians believe is Jesus Christ. Approximately 60% of the Apostles’ Creed is dedicated to a description of Jesus and His work. Who Jesus is, how He was born, how He died and rose again – all of these things are at the core of the Christian faith. Christians know that the world has always been willing to say good things about Jesus: for example, that He was a good teacher, that He stood for the downtrodden, and that talked about love. But the Bible tells us much more. To truly believe in Jesus, we must confess that He is fully God, the Creator of all things. He is not like the angels or people. Jesus is God Himself who became man to gather for Himself a people. He lived and died to redeem those who believe in Him. The capstone of all that He said and did, therefore, is His resurrection. It was by that resurrection that Jesus was declared the Son of God with power! There is none like Jesus. To be a Christian means we confess “What We Believe: Jesus Christ” (Colossians 1:15-17; Romans 1:1-4).
